Material Aid

Eligibility: Applicants must be without significant support systems for provision of goods or payment of bills to meet or prevent an imminent emergency (i.e., purchase basic necessities when their house has been destroyed by fire) or vital household or personal property such as clothing, eyeglasses, etc.
The program also pays for, rents or provides maintenance and repair services for broken stoves, refrigerators, toasters, irons, electric frying pans or other essential appliances destroyed in a localized incident such as a house fire or a more wide-spread disaster such as a major fire, flood, hurricane, earthquake or tornado. Caseworker or court referral is required.
Smoke detection devices are also available. (2-1-1 - 12/24/08)

This group covers Blytheville, Gosnell, Armorel, Luxora, Osceola, Manila, Leachville; Steele and Caruthersville, MO and western Tennessee. Membership is through the web site. Freecycle uses the Internet to connect people who want to give things they don't need away to those who want them. Everything must be 100 percent free. There is no bartering, trading or charge but there are a few rules:
  • Participants cannot ask for something until they have offered something.
  • All items must be child friendly, no tobacco or gun products or anything that could hurt somebody.
  • Nothing is too small, big or old to post. If an item doesn't work, it can still be posted as someone might want to fix it.
