Members must prove their lineage to a Revolutionary War supporter who served in either the government or military or in some way contributed to the support of the war effort. Ann Bush can assist in this research. (9/26/08)

GOSNELL RURITAN CLUB

To create a better understanding among people through volunteer service and make communities better places in which to live and work.
Meets the first Tuesday of every month at 7 PM at the Gosnell Community Center, 307 Air Base Highway. New members are welcome.

Encourages women be active community participants, assume leadership roles in meeting community needs and render charitable services with particular emphasis on children. Co-operation with other organizations performing similar services is stressed.
  • Teacher Appreciation projects provide instructors with materials for their students.
  • Toys for Tots provide toys to needy children.
  • Grandmothers Easter Baskets provide a week's supply of meals to grandmothers raising grandchildren who participate in the Toys for Tots program.
  • Assists school nurses with childrens' vision, hearing and scoliosis screenings. The Junior Auxiliary sponsored a Health Fair at Blytheville Intermediate School.
  • The Bookworm Project provides books for the Gosnell Elementary School Parent Center.
  • Parents who have had house fires are provided groceries, linens and children's clothing.
  • Neglected children are referred by other agencies.
  • Provides uniforms, shoes and underwear to needy students.
  • The National Association of Junior Auxiliaries Scholarship Program awards grants each April for graduate study in fields addressing the special needs of children and youth.
