Provides education, social, economic, spiritual and community development programs to area youth and adults.
The purpose of BCSM is to provide a nucleus for people in the Blytheville area to improve conditions which hinder educational, social, economic, spiritual and community development.

AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM - A happy, orderly climate provides learning exercises, games and a safe place for children. There are three components which consist of Tutorial Services for students in need of assistance from K-12; Latchkey and Recreational activities from 3-5 PM each school day at the BCSM Family Life Center, 300 S. 2nd Street.
Transportation is provided from school for all participants enrolled in the Latchkey Program.

FAMILY LIFE CENTER, 200 S. 2nd Street, serves as a focal point and safe haven where children, teens, adults and families can come and enjoy themselves. Organized activities such as basketball, volleyball, table games, weight training, aerobics, etc. are offered.

FEEDING PROGRAM - A soup kitchen provides a nutritious meal Tuesday - Friday and Sunday breakfast for the poor, elderly and/or disabled who are hungry or in need of a hold-over meal until other provisions can be made. (2/21/07)

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT - To develop leaders, role models and responsible individuals to be better fathers, mothers, husbands, wives and citizens of our communities.

LONNIE MIDDLEBROOK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - An annual scholarship for high school seniors enrolling in college or returning adults.

RADIO PROGRAM -Weekly hour-long programs devoted to community involvement, political concerns, spiritual enrichment and educational issues.

YOUTH ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS - To promote physical, mental, social, educational and spiritual growth to develop the total person. Drug prevention, child development and teen outreach is also undertaken. Ages five to 80-plus benefit from the various programs. (2007)

SERVICES PROVIDED:

Senior Meals - Lunches are delivered to the elderly who are not able to fix meals for themselves and not eligible for Senior Citizens lunches.
Soup kitchen - USDA guidelines for income verification apply.
Food Baskets - Emergency food baskets are available for needy families in Mississippi County and surrounding areas.
Clothing - Seasonal clothing is available to anyone who has a need, regardless of income or situation on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00 AM - 4 PM.
Furniture and Appliances - For needy families and fire victims.
Prescriptions - Help as much as possible is given, depending on circumstances.
Medical appliances - Crutches, wheel chairs, hospital beds, bedside commodes and shower chairs are loaned out to anyone who needs them for as long as needed.
Emergency shelter - Temporary and long-term. For one family or two women in an emergency situation for one or two nights until transfer to another facility.
Traveler's Aid
Work Program - Mission residents do yard work, factory line, steel mill shutdowns, moving, hauling, etc.
Christmas - Toys are given out and special food baskets to help with a holiday meal.

The Mission relies solely on donations and accepts any usable item.

Churches providing emergency funds for groceries, prescription medicines, rent payments, limited utility assistance for elderly neighbors and some lodging. Access to the Benefit Bank of Arkansas software program allows clients to go on line to see if they qualify for assistance under state programs such as food stamps and Medicaid.
Drivers license or photo ID, proof of income and Social Security cards are required for some services. (211 8/16/08) Engages youth in the ministry through basketball camps and receiving school supplies. The community garden feeds several families in the neighborhood. The "Beat the Heat" program gives fans to families who cannot afford air conditioners or electricity to power them.
