This grass roots organization trains senior Arkansans to have a greater voice in public policy issues affecting their lives. ASOP works closely with other agencies advocating senior issues and is funded by public and private grants. In 1999, ASOP received a federal grant to conduct a campaign against Medicare fraud, waste and abuse.

A non-profit organization working to improve state government and employment. All state employees are eligible for membership. Dues are:
$52 annually for Active full-time employees and can be payroll-deducted in $2 increments from 26 pay warrants each year.
$5 annually if retired before July 1, 1979 and $24 annually if retired after. Retiree members must be receiving benefits from a state-supported retirement system.
Associate membership is available to any non-state employee and citizen of Arkansas who desires to support the endeavors of the association) at $26 annually.

The chapter was honored for its community efforts which have included donating clothes, shoes and household items to the local women’s shelter, a toy drive held for a family crisis center, contributions made to the area food pantry, volunteering at the Special Olympics; a fundraiser for the United Way, school supplies collections and canned food drives; participation in the March of Dimes Walk America, donations to nursing homes and preparation of care packages for soldiers in Iraq. The Arts Council provides artistic enrichment throughout the county through visual arts, theater, music and dance. It brings in professional touring companies to perform Broadway musicals, variety and drama presentations. Administrative, technical and financial support is provided to the Community College Concert Series, Osceola Cultural Committee, Blytheville Junior Auxiliary, Mississippi County Black Cultural Association and the Blytheville Social Arts Club. It is also a partner in the Chamber Music Rural Residency in which local groups provide free monthly performances, workshops for school and community bands and private lessons.
Housed in the Ritz Civic Center, it supports a rich and varied program of offerings, cultivating home grown talent and bringing the community quality performers from around the nation.
A verbal history of the Ritz Civic Center is being collected, as told by those who lived it. If you have any memories of the building, a particular show or event or any facts relating to it, contact the Arts Council.

A non-profit agency committed to providing a better life for people with disabilities and their families. Our goals are to achieve independence and inclusion for people with disabilities, create appropriate transitions to schools and other agencies and integrate people with disabilities into community life. The centers in Blytheville and Luxora serve infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers with a classroom learning experience emphasizing functional communications, self-help and coordination skills. (2001)
